Changing A Tire All By Yourself.. We think just about everyone hates having a flat tire, especially when you’re stuck out in the middle of nowhere. The best thing you can do is call us for help or learn how to do it yourself. We can show you step by step how to do it, though. Read on. Oh, before we do that, we want to remind you that you need to familiar with using tools like the jack and other things, or else you may damage yourself or your vehicle. So let’s continue: Look around before you start working and make sure you’re in a safe zone. You might need to drive on your flat tire a little more until you’re on the side of the road or in a turn-out.. Make sure that where you’ve parked is level, solid ground, so you can safely and effectively jack up your car. Set your car in park or in gear so and turn your hazard lights on if you’re on the side of a public road.. Get all your tools set and your spare tire ready to use.. If there’s a wheel cover, remove it.. Loosen the lug nuts, but don’t remove them once they are exposed. You’ve got to loosen them by turning them counter-clockwise before you jack the car up.. When it’s time to jack the car up, look at your car’s owner’s manual to see how you need to do it, so that you don’t damage the car or get hurt yourself. Hold the spare tire nearby, so that when you lift the flat several inches off the ground, you can remove the lug nuts and flat and replace it with the new tire.. To install the spare, tighten the lug nuts in a cross pattern, so it looks like you’re drawing a star, not a circle. This will make sure the spare is snugly fitted on. Now you can securely tighten the lug nuts in a cross pattern.. Secure the flat tire, the jack and other tools back in the car, the drive a few miles and re-tighten the lug nuts once more.. Maybe you can do this, or maybe you think you need a little assistance. You can come to us for help.
