After that, put the mower deck on its lowest setting, so that you can get to the grease fittings.. Position the grease gun’s head in a counterclockwise position so that you can unscrew it and pull it off.. Pull the plunger rod at the bottom of the barrel backward and out of the grease gun, then push the release down to position the plunger.. After that, pull both plastic tabs off the ends of the No. 2 grease cartridge and put it into the barrel’s top. Release the hatch after you’ve replaced the head and then in a clockwise direction, screw on a zerk fitting onto the head of the grease gun. Press the plunger to start the grease flowing.. Lay down next to the riding lawn mower and find the zerk grease fittings that are on the vertical spindles of the mower blade.. Make sure that you wipe any dust or grease on the zerk fitting and press it down. Hold the grease gun’s barrel with one hand and push on the plunger.. If there is excess grease flowing out of the fitting, then this means that the fitting is full. Wipe off the excess and continue the process with the other blade spindles.. Continue along, lubricating the grease fittings on each front wheel spindle. To help distribute the grease in the wheel spindles, turn the lawn mower steering wheel from side to side.. When you’re finished, wipe off the excess grease from the tip of the grease gun, before you store it away.
